This year, VIDA 15.0 is introducing the Special Audience Award, a new system to allow audience participation in part of the voting process at the awards. In the week following the jury’s decision, anyone who is interested can select a favourite project from among the seven Honourable Mentions. The project with the most votes will receive this award with a prize of 2,500 €. The vote will take place after the announcement of the awards, which will be made public on the VIDA website in mid-October, immediately following the meeting of the jury. All the prizes will be announced on our website in that period, and key information will be provided to help understand the pieces and their relevance within the context of art and artificial life. As is customary in every edition of VIDA, critiques written by members of the jury will be attached to the announcement of the award-winning entries (LINK to the jury). These will express the importance of the pieces and the reasons why they have received this award from VIDA, a contest dedicated to one of the most singularly unique realms of art that exist today. Other means will also be provided by which to elaborate on the information on the winning projects, so that the audience can pick its favourite and cast its own vote. Social networks will be of great value for public participation this time around. We will be using VIDA’s social networks, Twitter (@VIDAAwards) and Facebook (VidaArtAwards), to make voting more accessible and universal.
